Bad Faith / Illegal Business Practices

Consumer and Small Business Protection Attorney

Federal and Massachusetts state laws protect you from unfair, deceptive and illegal trade practices. At the Law Office of Charles P. Kazarian in Boston, I represent consumers and small business owners who are the victims of bad faith and illegal actions by businesses.

Here are some examples of the types of claims I handle:

  • Consumer fraud: There are certain practices, regulated by the Federal Trade Commission at the federal level and by the Attorney General’s Office at the state level, that are unfair or deceptive. Examples are misrepresentation, false advertising, billing fraud and deceptive financing schemes.
  • Insurance bad faith: An insurance policy is a contract between you and an insurance company. When an insurance company unfairly denies or fails to investigate claims, or makes you jump through hoops before paying a claim, it may be guilty of more than breach of contract. It may also be guilty of insurance bad faith. As a victim of bad faith, you may be entitled to damages in addition to your financial losses.
  • Securities fraud: There are a number of activities that may be considered securities fraud, such as unsuitable investments, pyramid schemes and other acts of greed or negligence by stockbrokers.

Trials and appeals can be expensive, time-consuming and risky. As your lawyer, I will help you seek and push for practical solutions to your case. I am familiar with the various forums for alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation and arbitration. Using these forums can sometimes help you achieve a reasonable and fair conclusion to your case with much less risk.

However, when a negotiated settlement is not possible, I will use my 30 plus years of litigation experience at all levels of the court systems in Massachusetts and throughout New England.
